As you step through the door of the Ringer family’s house, you instantly feel at home. Large windows bathe the rooms in light, the garden is well kept and the pool beckons you to take a dip. The real showstopper, however, is the cutting-edge energy system.
“There was never any doubt that we would have a PV system on our house; we want to cover as much of our electricity needs as possible with solar energy. And, for the most part, that is exactly what we have achieved, with a 10.2 kWp PV system, Fronius Symo GEN24 Plus hybrid inverter, BYD battery storage system, water heating with Fronius Ohmpilot and an electric car.”
Today the Ringers are largely in control of their energy.
Stefanie and Thomas Ringer both work full-time. So a storage system also had to be included in the overall system so that they can use their own electricity in the evening.
However, the battery provides power not only at night, but also when there is no electricity available; in other words, during a power outage. Thanks to Full Backup, the Ringers’ home is also supplied with energy even when the power grid is off for a long time.
» We want to supply our entire household with PV electricity in the event of a power outage. There aren’t many inverters that can do this, but we have found one in the Fronius Symo GEN24 Plus. «
“When we bought the house, we were keen to retain its charm but also benefit from state-of-the-art energy generation. This means switching off the existing oil heating system as far as possible. We are now using PV electricity to heat our water instead,” says Stefanie Ringer.
“And as we also have an electric car, which we charge with our own electricity, we are also self-sufficient in terms of transport.”
